The measuring principle measures the change in length of a specially pre-treated synthetic fiber, which expands when moist and contracts when dry. The change in length is converted into a rotary movement and controls the pointer on the display. The hygrometer display can be easily corrected and calibrated by a zero point correction.

Two scales with ventilation recommendations are visible on the display. During the cold season, the room humidity should not rise above 60%, while in summer a slightly higher humidity of up to 70% is considered normal in living areas. After transport, the mechanical settings may be displaced by vibrations. Accuracy may also deteriorate if the thermohygrometer has been stored in a very dry environment for a long time. In this case, the humidity display can be easily corrected using the adjusting screw on the side with a small screwdriver. The temperature screw is accessible from the back of the housing (bottom hole). The easiest way to compare temperature and humidity is to use another thermohygrometer whose values you consider to be reliable. When adjusting by hand, remember that warm, damp hands can change the displayed values, as can breathing.
