The Bora 208 from Roth-Kippe is a cheap, well-designed dryer for families with children and for households that don't want to tumble dry all their laundry. It dries about 2-3 washing machine loads per day and is available as the "Bora208" (without switchable heating) or the "Bora208H" (with switchable heating). The version with heating can be used to heat the room to 18°C in cooler environments at the touch of a button. In rooms that are 18°C or more all year round, the version with heating is therefore of no advantage. service The Bora has a clear, digital control panel that can be set to different languages (German, French, Italian, English).
Drying programs:
The laundry drying program can be started at the touch of a button. The dehumidifier runs until the laundry is dry and then switches off automatically. The pre-programmed target moisture level of 40% is suitable in most cases, but can otherwise be increased or reduced to any moisture level according to your own preference. Logically, the device runs until it can assume that the laundry is dry. Then it switches off. After a few minutes, 1-3 checks are carried out again with pure circulating air to check whether the moisture level has increased too much, meaning that the laundry may not be completely dry. If so, the Bora dries again; if not, it goes into standby. This follow-up check can optimize the drying result, particularly in drying rooms with only a small amount of laundry or with items of clothing of different thicknesses.
The dryer also has a general room monitoring function to prevent mold and odors in the basement. The device switches on automatically whenever the room humidity rises above the mold and odor limit of 60% RH. This humidity value can also be changed as desired. Unlike the laundry drying programs, the dryer never switches off completely in this mode, but only pauses as long as the humidity is right. If the humidity rises again, the drying mode switches back on. Specially for the Bora: By pressing the program button several times, the start time can be delayed by half an hour. This means that you can hang up the laundry during the day, for example, but postpone the drying time until the electricity tariff is low. Switchable heating: For a small additional charge, the device is also available as the "Bora 208 H". The switchable 1000W heater speeds up laundry drying in the cold season because warm air can absorb more moisture than cold air. If the heater is switched on, it heats until a room temperature of 18°C is reached. Above 18°C, the heater is inactive, even if it is switched on.
Blower and fan speeds:
The blower is a radial blower, which is placed in the upper part of the housing. It spreads air relatively widely, but loses power as it goes deeper (in long drying rooms). The Bora is therefore particularly suitable for short to medium-sized laundry lines up to approx. 5m long, which can be 2m wide. The dry air jet should blow through the laundry below the clotheslines so that it can swing in the wind. This means that the moisture is released into the room air more quickly and can be intercepted by the dryer. The optimal installation height for the Bora should therefore be slightly below the lines, usually around 1.70m from the top edge of the device.
Selectable fan speeds: The Boras have one fan speed, i.e. on or off.
Air louvres: The front of the housing is fixed, i.e. the blowing direction or the dispersion cannot be changed.
Direct hose connection:
The water extracted from the laundry drains through a hose connection on the bottom of the housing. There is no pump integrated into the device, so the hose must have a constant gradient towards the drain. If there is no drain, the water can of course also be easily collected in a bucket placed under the device. If required, we have suitable inlet pipes and buckets for all Bora models in our range.
Air filter:
The moist room air is sucked in at the bottom of the front. The industrial, long-lasting filter mat is inserted in a fold-out door at the bottom. It cleans the air of coarse dust and fluff so that the inside of the device remains clean. If the filter material ever runs out, you can order suitable replacement filter mats from us at any time.
Compact dimensions:
The Bora is comparatively narrow and often fits in places in the drying room where other devices are too wide, for example between downpipes or electrical cables. Since all controls are on the front, the Bora does not need any space on the sides or above.
Swiss control:
Its comfort control was designed by Roth-Kippe and is manufactured in Switzerland. This allows the dryer to be started with a time delay if desired, so that the low-power tariff can be consistently exploited. Both when drying laundry and when generally stabilizing excessive basement humidity. Daily blocking times or an automatic, time-limited room drying program - for example limited to the night hours - can also be programmed (each limited to a maximum of 99 days). The device counts the operating hours and reminds you after 300 hours with a light that the filter should be cleaned. By pressing the reset button for 5 seconds, the counter is reset and starts again. ambient temperature
Technically, the "Bora" tumble dryers can be used down to 8°C. Please note that the drying time for all room air tumble dryers increases significantly the colder the room is. 15°C and higher are optimal for optimum drying speed. The declared drying performance was measured at a room temperature of 20°C.
Scope of delivery and wall mounting
As with all tumble dryers, installation is very simple:
A support rail is fixed to the wall with 3 screws, the Bora can then be easily hung on. All necessary mounting material is already included in the delivery:
- the plug-in device
- Support rail with screws/dowels
- hose connection coupling
- 2m condensate hose
- Operating instructions
A suitable inlet pipe with bucket is optionally available if the water cannot be drained directly into a drain.
Both the support rail and the two buffers in the lower part of the device that support the wall are insulated with rubber to minimize the transmission of vibrations to the wall. Due to the high dehumidification performance, we recommend draining the condensate directly into the drain using the hose if possible (hose is included in delivery). If you want to use a bucket, please ensure that it has enough capacity (at least 8 liters) to avoid overflowing while drying laundry. If mounting on the wall is not possible, you will find suitable chassis in our range on which the dryer can be mounted.
